I don't know/remember if this topic has been started yet. I went some pages deep in this board and couldn't find a similar title, so I don't know. But, out of all the concerts y'all have attended, which one(s) were your favorite to attend?
As for me, mine would be 2 of the concerts I've attended, but for different reasons.
I loved attending the one by Breaking Benjamin, because, aside from the negative experience of that guy shouting next to me, I was generally in a very good mood and was more open compared to when I've been to other concerts. I usually don't yell or even say anything or move around much at other shows, even when I'm happy to be there and am having a good time. I guess I feel too self-conscious or whatever usually, but at that concert, it was one of those rare moments where I was just more energetic than usual, and it was just one of the best times for me in general.
My other (and I'd say the best) concert I've attended so far, was when I attended the one for the band Barenaked Ladies. I've loved most of their songs in the late 90s, when they were my favorite band at the time, but attending one of their concerts got me back into listening to their music again. I really like that they are very interactive with their audience; they not only sing and play music, but they also tie it in with talking to us about incidents they had, joking, and stuff like that. You can tell, or at least it really seems, that they really enjoy what they do. I've been to concerts where the musicians talk to the audience, but not anything like this one. It's one band that I would definitely want to see again. *smile*
Like I mentioned before I haven't been to many concerts of people that are well known, but the one I won't ever forget was the Chris Young concert when I was in Louisiana. FYI he is a famous Country singer, and though I'm not a big fan of Country I figured this wouldn't happen often so I didn't turn down the offer to the concert lol. Anyway, he did a great job and the accostics were phenomenal. There was this drunk guy starting crap there, and apparently he punched some lady in the face. Well Chris stopped singing and the band, and he shouted at the guy, "hey, ass hole who just punched the lady in the face! Get the fuck out of my show!" From there security drug him outside. It was shocking yet rather amusing, I wasn't expecting a famous singer to stop in the middle of his show like that, no less cuss some random dude out for being an idiot. Lol.
So I also have this question that is sort of related. Where can you look to find out what bands and such will be performing in your area?
Yeah; I don't attend many concerts either; I can't afford them most of the time, especially now at all *smile*, and most of the time, I had been invited and paid for by someone else going or that already had tickets that were given to me. I found out about the ones I attended thru the radio or thru someone else who heard/knew about it. Another way to find out about concerts in your area, is to sign up with Ticket Master )I think it's still that or it might go by another name actually), but yeah. You would get a weekly e-mail that will say what concerts will be happening in/around your town/city. But you probably won't be informed of every show happening, so I would also suggest signing up for newsletters from favorite stations or friending/following them on Facebook/Twitter if you have that. I think there are also other general sites where you can find whose playing locally but I don't know them at the moment. Hope this helps some. *smile
hmmm, I have three Rammstein, Children of bodom and Nightwish!
This is a tough one, I've been to some pretty epic ones. Off the top of my head, I would probably say Marilyn Manson in 1999, when I was small enough to smuggle into the venue in a cello case. And I was. Morally questionable babysitter, parents gone for the weekend, there were other factors, but it was a hell of a night. I was being passed from person to person while Sweet Dreams was playing, and danced/fondled a complete stranger right through Tainted love and into Vodville.
I'm sure I'll come back with more.
First of all, to answer Ryan's question, in addition to signing up with ticket master and local radio stations, if there are venues in your area that frequently have concerts, most of them have websites that you can check for upcoming concerts. I used to get monthly emails from a couple venues in my city in addition to emails from ticket master.
I haven't been to any concerts for awhile since losing my job and no longer being able to afford outrageous ticket prices. But from the past I would say my favorite country concert was George Strait because he is a legend in country music and I had been wanting to see him for a long time. I've read he is starting his farewell tour this year and then retiring, and I sure would love to see him one last time, but I'm not sure if he is coming here again. My favorite rock concert would have to be the Eagles who I've seen three times.
I've been to so many it's crazy, but a few come to mind. Going to see Iced Earth in 2008 was one of the best shows, because it was my once in a lifetime to see them, because matt barlow was their vocalist at the time.
I think my favorite concert was the time I saw Staind, Seether, and Papa Roach. I love all three of those bands, and Seether put on a particularly explosive show that night. I haven't been to any concerts in a few years, either, although I'd like to, but tickets are just so damn expensive most of the time.
I don't think these would be considered concerts, but I'll never forget the opera "The Fall of the House of Usher" by Edgar Allan Poe, "The Rape of Lucrecia" by Benjamin britten, James Conlon conducted, and Gustavo Dudamel with The LA fill
And I look forwerd going to the Metropolitan Opera in NY.
Hmmm I liked a lot of Papa Roach's older stuff, as I do most bands, but overtime I've lost interest with that band.
Yeah, me too. Their new stuff isn't really anything to write home about. They did put on a pretty decent show, though.
rush, allways puts on a good show!
Hey! To the person who saw Chris Young: awesome!! I've seen him going on 13 times and have met him 12 times... he is a sweetheart and definitely puts on an awesome show!! Oh wow- that's interesting you went to that show! I have friends who were also there, and I love the fact that he did that- just goes to show you that hitting a woman under any sercomstances isn't okay... he's kicked people out before for starting a huge fight, too.... I'm glad he kicked the guy out though... probably the best concert I've seen; was one of Chris Youngs; it was last year when he opened up for Miranda Lambert. My friend and I (thanks to the radiostation) got backstage and we also squeezed through like 2000 (I'm exadurating here) but... people to get to the front since we both had pit tickets, and it was honestly one of the best things! I could literally reach out and tuch the stage and touch the stage I did. :) Chris sang the Steevie Wonder hit 'Signed, Sealed, Delivered' and I stuck my hand out, and he grabbed onto it, and held it and sang to me 'signed sealed delivered, I'm yours here I am baby!!' One of the best moments I've had imo. :) And then when I was in Dubuque, IA a few months after that, I saw Chris headlining, and I was again at the very front of the stage, and when he came out (cause I had went backstage before the show) he grabbed my hand, and then he reached down and handed me a guitar pick... and then, when he came out for the encore, he tuched my rist... and then grabbed my hand again before he left the stage... most epic concerts!!! :) :) Not only that, but when my friend and I saw him in Minneapolis, he reached down and gave me his towel... when he would otherwise throw them out into the audience... but he'd hand stuff to me instead.... those are the ones I can think of that were the most epic, for me...

This is really hard. I have 3. Stevie Wonder, Destiny's Child, and Heart. Heart was fuckin amazing, I'd kill to see them again. Anne Wilson's got a voice on her and she can still rock it at her age, and, as Chris Cornell said, Nancy can play a man sized guitar riff that would humble most guitar players. So true so true. Another one I forgot was Evinescence, when I was like 13 or 12, I could barely hear the next day, they were fuckin epic.
Destiny's child was during their final world tour as a group, which was really special to witness and Stevie Wonder... No words. No fucking words. He was so good. and another tidbit about Heart, they can cover Zeplin better than probably anyone.
Even though I took a ot of heat from it, my favorite concert was definitely two years ago when I went and seen the Backstreet Boys live in Kansas City. Being a 90's kid it was really really fun. I payed about 75 dollars a ticket and bought 3, but would do it all over again if I had the chance
Man!
that's a tough one. I really liked seeing Billy Ray in 93. Chris Kinght, an Americana artist put on a hell of a show in Knoxville in 04/06 somewhere around there. Dan Seals was also great, and the free Garth show I saw in 1990 before he broke really huge was also really good. Then, there was U2 back when they were on the "How to Dimantal an Atomic Bomb" tour. So I guess I said all of this to say that while I really don't have a favorite concert, I have a lot that are etched in my mind. Oh yeah, and I can't forget the concert with Vanessa Carlton, Third Eye Blind, and the Goo Goo Dolls on Labor Day of 02. Great freakin time!!!! Veruca Salt and Bush in 97, my first rock concert, wasn't bad either.
Sorry, apparently I can't spell. I meant to say Chris Knight in my earlier post lol!! You should check out some of his stuff if you get the chance.
Dougie MacLean inn Berkeley. He is so interactive, it's part of the style and his upbringing, it was a really amazing experience. There's something about getting people to sing together, dozens of them and even hundreds if you can, that's just really magical. I really miss the Freight and Salvage now that I won't be able to go again.
Since it's been a while, I must say that the best concert I've attended so far in my life would be Sir James Galway performing Mozart's flute concerto in D. Exquisite! I got to meet him too, so that was a +.
